If you have solid wood floors there is nothing quite like cleaning with black tea. Tea has been a tried and true wooden cleaner for hundreds of years, and it will deodorise and clean the floor without harsh chemicals.
Note: do not use tea on laminated or engineered timber.
- 5 to 6 tea bags (black and inexpensive)
- Boiling water
Put the tea bags into a teapot and fill with boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for 10 minutes and then pour all of the tea into your bucket. Add some extra hot water and then mop as normal. Ensure your mop is only damp as too much water will not be good for a timber floor.
Apparently, the tannins in tea also have the added benefit of killing dust mites, so this method will be a friend to anyone with a dust mite allergy. Add essential oils to provide a fragrance of your choice.
