Explanation
MOUNTAIN turns the deck on its side. Where the other works stand upright, narrow and iconic, this one lies flat and opens into landscape: a low sun setting behind a dark range, its last light thrown across the sky in painted rays.
The range is not invented. It is the Brokenback Range, the worn ridge that lines the Hunter Valley — the object of motion and the street made to hold the one thing it was never built for, which is stillness.
