BUTTERFLIES

Explanation

BUTTERFLIES lays the deck flat into a long silver field and lets it fill with wings. Across worn, bright silver leaf a scatter of small butterflies drifts and rises, rendered in the colour the silver around them has lost.

Where the silver in the other works drains and chills, here it serves as sky and water — a reflective field for the wings to cross. The butterflies keep their colour while the ground gives its up.
